Artist Beit Midrash

Artist Beit Midrash
Dori Singer Zoot – Moderator with professional artists as student mentors
The Artist Beit Midrash presents a unique opportunity to spark Jewish creativity and examine the intersection between Jewish identity and the creative process. Join Dori Singer Zoot for an art and text based course where YOU craft your own semester-long experience, culminating in a capstone project of your choosing. Teens will explore the text of Breishit (Creation) and create a response in their preferred art medium (photography, painting, songwriting, film, etc.). This class emphasizes artistic expression, self-reflection and collaboration, guiding students as they advance their skills, learn new techniques, expand their repertoire and pursue excellence in their artistic disciplines

Students taking this course will meet virtually on 3 Sundays (October 4, November 8, December 6 at 5:50PM).  During the weeks in between, students will work with Dori to develop their capstone project proposals and then be matched with professional artists in the medium of their choice. This class will require time outside of Sundays and a significant amount of individual work, creativity, and long-term time management. Therefore, the class will be counted as 2 Kulanu classes. Teens are required to take 4 classes during the 2020-2021 school year.
